The lighting here is rather flat; more directional lighting from the side would have helped to add a lot of depth. |

Fun little abstract. You should definitely take advantage of the full 640pixel size that DPC allows for challenge submissions, as this shot is showing up really small on my 19" monitor at 1280x1024 resolution. The lighting also seems a little harsh with reflections and shadowing that detract from the shot. Just my opinion. Good luck! |

I love that toy! Very good subject selection... I am a little distaracted by the pattern in the background (looks like plywood or something). |

This could have been good but the lighting is very bad and the DOF is confusing to the eye. 2 |

I have a few suggestions that I think might improve this photo:
1) use a plain colored background 2)include the whole structure - the chopped off bits are bothering me 3) try more even lighting - the shadows are distracting 4) make sure it is clean - I keep looking at the stain on the yellow rod 5)submit the photo with (at least close to) 640 pixels on the long side. |

This is an intersting picture, but I think that the size choosen should have been large e.g. 640 to optimise the shot. |
