Greetings from the Critique Club!
Technical:This is a great capture. Maybe a little bit of tweeking with metering mode might have helped avoiding the "burning" of details on clothes. I like it personally, but I dont think it might be of everyones taste.
Aesthetic:Great! Takes me to past. B/W is ideal choice and the sharp focus on eyes is just right. The "average housewife friend" of yours should not be feeling average anymore...she looks stunning.
Challenge:Offcourse, anything would fit into theme for this challenge :)
Conclusion:Definately a great capture. Maybe a little bit of postprocessing might have improved the overall composition. I think this challenge had many great photos and this one suffered from "relative" syndrome. I'd have given is 7 had I voted for this challenge.
I'm by no means expert in area of photography. My comments are purely based on my limited understanding of technology and art behind digital photography. | Beautiful image. Second one in this challenge that reminds me of a 40's pin-up girl. I love it. Tonal range is spot on. Model is beautiful and pleasing to look at. Her gaze pulls the viewer into the shot. 10 from me. |

| Great composition. Such a beautiful model, but somehow my eyes can't escape hers. They make such a strong focal point that you can't help but be drawn in. I love it! |

| The exposure levels need balancing - the garments are too blown out. The soft focus is nice and works well her. As for the composition - might have been better if she were more angled than horizontal. |

| The hair is wonderfully lit and it is this that sets the whole thing off. Great soft focus in the rest of the shot, but eyes still sharp. I like the facial expression as well. |

| nice attempt, blacks need more detail, whites need work as well, nice comp, nice angle, soft on focus, lighting good, pro quality almost, nice movement, overall very nice job |

| Slightly overdone with the soft focus in my opinion, but still a great portrait with really good B&W contrast and a nice angle and composition. |
