Taken at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia...a shot that seemed like an obvious choice for this challenge.

I haven't entered in a month or so, and since I had my camera with me a work this day, I decided to try and find some decent shots. This was taken from the second story of the hotel we are building, looking down to the slope which abuts the hotel so that you can 'ski-in/ski-out'. Handy, huh?

I'm not home, so editing here was done via IrfanView, which is a helluva viewer, but a rather mediocre editor. I got it pretty close to what I wanted...I'm not sure of the proper settings for shooting in snow, anyway...I know there is a trick to it.

Hasta la pasta.

This would have been a knockout image had the ROTs been followed. It still is a great image though. Stunning contrast against the white snow. 6

That's a great image. Neutral space and simplicity really work. Nice job maintaining the texture of the snow. Most attractive omposition to the eye is for the point of interest to be off centre on a thirds line and I think this is a caase where the thirds intersection would likely have been worth and extra halfpoint

good capture and concept--i like this.. i wonder how this would work if they were in lower left corner, not top centered--would the composition be more effective? Great shot anyway!

Very nice. I like the unconventional placement of the figures in the frame. I actually have a shot very similar to this (even in the odd framing) of my black and white dog that I considered entering for the Best of 2005 challenge.

A most expressive composition which will find much favor in this challenge.

I like the direction you're going with this shot. The subjects and color are isolated so well against the snowy background. Personally, I would have liked to see a tighter shot or more crop to emphasize the subjects more and weight them heavier in the composition with less negative space. Just my humble opinion, nice shot nonetheless

good idea but the colors seem a bit muted, may want to boost the sat or contrast a bit

I bet that positioning the subjects either in the top right or the bottom left would have given the image more impact... Top right would probably be the better choice.

the only thing that would make this shot better is being able to see all of their footprints. great interpretation of the challenge.

this is a nice photo with some real depth to it. irobically, i would have liked to see it in b/w, not that the theme would allow that.

I love this photo and it is perfect for the challenge. It's a little washed out though, I assume it was snowing and that's why. Maybe bumping up the contrast would help.

i think it's pretty cool--it does bring out the idea of color... for some reason, however, it looks slightly dusty/faded (but maybe it's just the thick layer of dust on my screen).

Cute subject, composed well to reflect the end of a long, wonderful day. I'd place your subject a bit more to the right of center to further emphasize their moving away from us. A line of foot prints in the snow would be icing on the cake - at least a bit more detail in the texture of the snow would be better. The bright jackets against the snow work well for the challenge - their brightness is dimmed a bit by the falling snow - maybe pop the contrast a bit more?

Now this in my opinion actually meets the challenge...it's seems as though everyone elses shots are just of color....great job! 10
