Move this up on second review. I like this. Shutter speed must have been a key to this photo.

From a technical standpoint, this shot is REALLY TOUGH to do correctly. Fire and water moves incredibly quick and in situations such as this you need to be on your toes. Judging from the water drops and the flame; the camera was already cranked at a fairly high ISO and the shutter speed was high. So my hats off to the photographer who took this and let's take a look at the technical aspects.

I've already mentioned that the shutter speed was fairly high, this is able to be seen at the water drops on the left hand side dripping (almost not blurred). The DOF was really good and focused right behind the firefighters and included them. The fire provides a good source of backlighting and the reflective strips on the uniforms provide the added light to prevent the firefighters from disappearing into shadow land. Well done on this photo shoot.

I pray that no body was hurt during this emergency.

Fascinating to see the jet of water with the fire backlighting it! I know that some people may tell you that this is a silhouette, but I don't think it is, because of the reflective strips on their gear. 10.

Really nice capture. I know how hard these times of images are to compose and expose correctly on the fly. I think this image would be wonderfull without the distraction in the left of the frame. I think you should try cropping it as a vertical orientation with the right side of the image maybe?
