I felt the title "Losing Faith" would be a bit over the top for this site. But I was trying to convey a feeling of society beyond redemption in his eyes. Ergo his back is turned to the rest of the composition.

Very well presented. Radiating character. Background colors are lovely. 7

This is a nice portrait but the background is too blurred for me to get a sense that this man has been singled out from a crowd. He could be on an empty street for all I can tell.

Really good use of shallow DOF to isolate the subject. Sharp focus, esp. to the face. Good lighting. Only thing I would have prefered would have been to have the greater space to be in front of him to lead the viewer into the photo instead of out of it. Of course don't know what you had to work with. Nicely done and definate fit to the challenge, good luck

DNMC

Unlike people that vote on emotion and not within the confines of this challenge, I claim DNMC? Why? Because this is not singled out. This is a candid shot.

To convince me of singled out needs at least one more subject weather a person or thing. Yes, your bg is blurred, but does not single out your main subject.

comp nice, color good, light good, dof good, b&w good, sharp, nice angle, good capture, overall a nice pix but not in this challenge.

In the ideal world, one would say a person shouldn't be looking out of the frame, but rather into it, but we don't live in an ideal world. The depth of field here is so minimal that the crowd is hard to see (one in background with a blue umbrella?), but still a good shot. (6)

Nice shot. I was going to comment on how there is less space in the frame where the priest is looking, than behind his back, but perhaps this composition adds some food for thought: it's as if the priest has turned his back to the colouful world behind him.

I just find this image so appealing..the subdued light, the vibrant color in the background, the concentration on his face...well done.

I'd rather see your subject left of center instead of right. I like how the background color helps to frame him. You've captured a great look on his face, too.

This shot really captures the weariness of this individual. I like the way the shallow DOF creates a colourful abstract painting behind him - it contrasts well with his muted demeanor. I think composition would be improved by giving more space infront of him than behind him though I guess current composition could be said to reflect the fact that he's walking away from the lively scene behind him.

The challenge asked for a person to be singled out in a crowd. Your title says it al ... he's "alone"
