Glad to see Johnson insired someone else :)
Interesting how it has influenced you, and I noted the main subject of the image is a person, of which there are very few within his own work.
For me, his abilities lie more so in the way he presents an unbiased view of a subject with sensitive and unprobing observation. He also uses a lot of diagonals when concerning the man made world. Gone off on a bit of a tangent there! I can see where you were coming from, the over exposed BG is not enough to wipe it out however and so there remains little details that distract from the subject.

The light and shade is very strong in this image, and so is the spacial tension..... |

Lonely and grey. Very nice composition, very nice muted colors. |

It's clear to see the inspiration when compared to Johnson's work. I like the addition of a person here. |

The BG is overexposed, and I think that this only came as a consequence of a difficult exposure conditions (dark inside, bright outside). COnsidering the BG is taking so much of the frame, I don't think that this overexposure is acceptable in this image. Regardless of the exposure issue, the composition of this shot is a bit dead-on. I had a look at //www.eirikjohnson.com/, and, in my opinion, the photographer usually finds more interesting pespectives and makes more careful exposures than this picture. |

Nice however too bad for the blown background. |

I love the person and the coloration but the brightness of the area through the tunnel is too blinding. I don't know how to tone that down, but that kind of hurts the image in my opnion. |
