I really like this. I don't think he looks sad - he looks like he loves you. I like the placement of the pup in the frame.

Great shot...the detail is great in the dogs face.

I like this shot alot. The look the dog is giving you isn't sad at all - I see it more as wise and omnipotent - and aren't all our pets wise and all-knowing? I do like the OOF background quite a bit, and love the contrast of that against the sharpness of detail in the black fur (which is hard to achieve). The only thing that may have been sacrificed here is the white fur has a blue tint to it (and bear in mind I'm perusing on a laptop, but the color is usually fairly true.)

I really couldn't tell you why this scored a 5.5, but then I consider that a good score. :-) It has more meaning than "glitz", which I see as good, but doesn't always get reflected in score here. It's a great portrait, definitely worth framing and hanging on the wall.

A nice capture and a funny title. The clasic black dog on a sunny day exposure conditiongs, but the dog is nicely exposed. I don't like the rendering of OOF elements in this shot: they are quie harsh; also, the bright spot on the ground is competing for my attention. I think that you needed to do something with the background to subdue it a bit.
