This was taken against the wall of my school. The wall is actually kinda of grainy like this....so it isn't just excessive image grain.

Contrast
Curves
Channel mixer to make it black and white

Burn around edges

Greetings from the Critique Club

Welcome to the world of DPC! I see you've been a member just over a month now, and have done very well in that time. And I enjoyed wandering through your portfolio just now.

You have an image here that meets the Challenge well and the score shows that. When I first saw the image, I thought, oh, oh, vignetting. However, your photographer's comments tell me this was deliberate. If there was a good strong reason for the vignetting I think it might have been more interesting; as it is, perhaps others also thought it was a 'mistake'. Then, your commentors suggested that while your image did meet the Challenge, the composition isn't very exciting. Unfortunately, they have a point. The hand, pointing, just isn't very strong all by itself. Maybe if it was pointing at something, or making one of those puppet hand gestures???

What you do have here is something it takes many people a long time to find, and that is simplicity. You took something down to the essence and worked with it. Many spend a long time learning that bit of wisdom.

I'll look forward to seeing more of your work here on DPC. Good luck!

Alice

i like the look of the wall and the depth of the shadow. If the pose were more intesting it would help.
