Challenge: Your Shadow II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Sony DSC-H1
Location: Hall in my house
Date: Feb 2, 2006
Aperture: f 2.8
ISO: 64
Shutter: 2 sec.
Galleries: Emotive, Nude
Date Uploaded: Feb 2, 2006

Used shutter priority at 2 second exposure. Light was positioned abour 18 feet away, and camera was angled from the right through a doorway. Adjusted brightness and contrast, changed color balance to purple, burned the shadow to get rid of unevenness, and dodged the shawl on the right to improve detail and contrast. Blurred lower right edge and burned in the top and bottom to finish the frame started by the door on the right and left. Spot sharpened shawl on left to make clearer. Also resized and adjusted sharpness by 4 points.

The messy border makes the image look amateur. Am not at all fond of gratuitous nudity either.

interesting. really like the post process burning, though the legs don't seem to match what you did with the upper body. but don't listen to me it's your art. like the odd border and the softness around the fringe. upon real close inspection some sections seem to be over sharpened and the right side of her outline seems messy. enjoyed looking at it.

This photo has a very odd appearance. Because it's a shadow, with her legs together and not seperated, it makes her look like she's got an enormously long torso. Very unflattering stance in this shadowedness. Also, there is very little in focus. All I see in focus is a bit of the shawl, which is definately not the most interesting part of the photo. The shasow of the girl seems not in focus to me, apparent by the fuzzy edges.
The crop is also not my personal preference. It's very close on the sides, chopping off one of her hands, and the long vertical crop even further makes her look distorted enhancing the 'long torso'.
Now, for the most obvious, the editing. Horrible brush marks in the lower legs, head and upper chest. The shadow is grey, and the editing is black. Looks very sloppy that way. Overall, a neat idea, but just not my cup of tea. ~Heather~

Cool

you may need to calibrate you monitor / software - the burning / cloning tools are obvious on my screen. I like the idea though.

Nice idea, but with the screen settings on my PC I can clearly see what I assume are areas of cloning. I still like the image tho.

I'm guessing our monitors are calibrated differently because I can see your black brushstrokes quite clearly.

Um.. You must have a pretty dark monitor. The editing on this is *extremely* clear. Obvious tool work on the legs and arms and shoulders and head.
