I was curious why my Canon S1 IS has no macro mode. I have tried it several times before with kinda pathetic results but this one turned out to have pretty small DOF for a compact. I get the rapidly raising number of views as a proof for it, while no comments (as per Feb 10, 2006) makes me a bit unsure.
I used auto focus for this one, trying the smallest possible distance from CCD to the waterdrop. It's a tiny bit over 10cm what the manual says.
Would someone please drop me a line on what she/he thinks the reason for the numerous views is? Would be appreciated.
Thank you, Sherryl.
Thanks goes to Iain as well. No, it's not a carpet, it's a black coat, the color comes from postprocessing. Positioned the camera, placed the drop, pressed expo button. And tried again, and again, and again... as usual. :)
I think the reason for the number of views, is due to the fact that the thumbnail just looks like it says, "look at me type of image".....
This is what it did to me, and just had to take a closer look.
I love the blue tones of this images as well.
The DOF is just perfect, especially in the foreground, and also the background.
The droplet doesn't really looks like a water droplet, but that doesn't matter, as I think the composition is still very appealing.
I like this one, well done.
It really is a great example of an image with no subject, just like the current challenge.
