 This was taken next to a small pond on a farm just outside Cape Town. The horse is standing on an elevated bank of the pond with the ealry morning light just hitting it. The use of a polarizer created a very dramatic contrast between the horse and the background.

PS. sharpened, contrast, little dodge on the shadows on the face, resized, changed to sRGB, desaturated slightly on the final image

Breathtaking effect with the midnight blue background and the golden hues of the mare's coat, but what a shame that she is pregnant and obviously thin and ribby...not the picture of a well kept pregnant mare.

An image that caught my attention even it its thumbnail form. Once I clicked on it I was rewarded with its beauty. Glad to see it finish in the top Ten. Congratulations!

Beautiful! Awesome lighting and color. I like the angle, too. I think including a little more in the frame, and moving the horse off-center would strengthen the composition. - 8

Wonderful picture. The background is dark yet the blue hues show through. Love the light reflecting on that beautiful horse and highlighting the blades of grass. Nicely done!

I think the crop is a bit too tight for my taste. I'd like to see a bit more pasture on one side and a bit more in the front. 7
