 The picture has not much to do with the shipyard workers of Gdansk of course.

Height thousands angry winegrowers demonstrating in the Narbonne streets. The image suggest more violent action then actually occured. An unusualy calm parade for this kind of event. The winegrowers of the Languedoc region in France cannot compete anymore with the massive introduction of Chilean, Argentinean, South African and Australian mass produced - low price wines on the world market. They are asking the government to lower their land taxes and modify production regulations and quotas in the region to have a chance to compete in this trade.

This should have ribboned. Evocative, thought-provoking and unlike most other images in the top ten, it actually has some talent in it's photographic composition.

Wow, love this image, very "iron curtain"-ish and definately had me thinking about eastern europe before I even read the title. Still not really a 10 from me but as close as it gets, you got a 9.
