Oh man this is awesome! Thanks very much to you all for your votes.

This shot wasn't too difficult to achieve, especially with a chicken that was more then happy to co-operate. Firstly I pictured the shot I wanted in my mind, then positioned the bike where I had the clear blue sky and clouds without any trees in the frame. I then got the chicken, that has been hand raised and is friendly, and placed him on the handle bars. I lay on the ground and took several shots up towards the chicken as he jumped off and put him back up, until I got a shot I was happy with. I had the bike handle bars placed so the sun would shine through the chickens feathers as he spread his wing.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

How am I meant to do this .. you got the blue!

First Impression - the most important one:
I really thought this was cool ... such a true kiwi number 8 wire job.

Composition:
I discussed quickly with the lover .. and he said it wasn't sharp ... but I figure it is hard to make a chicken stay still!

Subject:
Meets the challenge with great gusto.

Technical (Colour and light):
I love the colours and natural lighting.

To grow its vote?:
Like you can!

Summary:

Bloody hell bandit you give us kiwis something to aim for ... :) well done.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Okay, seriously. I love your chicken. But the sky! I am just blown away by the color! I am a newbie here, and to tech talk as well, so I didn't understand all of your descriptions. Did you use some sort of filter, or is the sky truly that blue???? Gorgeous!!

Fantastic job!!

This is a superb photograph on so many levels... And the title just makes it that much better!

It looks so natural and spontaneous that few would guess that it was so painstakingly set up. Even the slightly out-of-focus areas add to the illusion of it being one of those serendipitous "grab" shots - making it all the more fun to look at.

Excellent work and congratulations on your BLUE!
