He he, Them distracting poles behind the boots are not what they seem (see coments), but is actually a .303 and is an integral part of the photograph :)

This is one of the better boots in this challenge.....

the focus is good and the worn boots hold promise as a photographic subject, but in this picture, I see poor use of light and tonality. the small hot spots on the boots are distracting, and the tones of the boots are too close to the surrounding to really stand out. the darkest tones are all in the background, which is distracting, and also causes the boots to look washed out. the subject of the photo is hugging the bottom of the frame, making the image look off-balance. no apparent compositional or conceptual purpose is served by the inclusion of so much space above the boots.

Nice idea. Less distracting background and less symmetrical composition would be better, how about DOF separation from a distant background and angling one boot?

I like it, although I find background rather distracting and the spot on the right boot a bit too bright.

I am not sure what the poles in the middle are for and that is quite disconcerting - the boots are really full of a story waiting to be told - the foilage adds a nice touch - the undone carelessly tossed laces are great - but the poles throw it all out of whack... High score though - just not a 10
