I think in terms of composition, this is one of the best spider shots this week. Looks like it may have been shot with a flash which kind of blows out the contrast. Also looks like you either have a lower end camera or you had to blow this up significantly for it to fill the frame -- it's very grainy and so you lose a lot of the fine detail.

Your subject is great, but your image quality is really lacking. I hate to point that out if you just have a lower-end camera...
07/14/2002 07:05:00 PM
Cliche, but very detailed...
07/14/2002 12:16:00 PM
eh it's pretty grainy, the idea has been used lots already too
07/14/2002 12:27:00 AM
practice makes perfect...
07/14/2002 12:10:00 AM
out of focus but good job
07/13/2002 08:40:00 PM
creative 8 interesting 8 focus 3 framing 4 = 7
07/13/2002 03:40:00 PM
not bad
07/13/2002 09:28:00 AM
A bit too close and blury, not so scary!
07/12/2002 11:15:00 AM
I think this could of been better if the photo was a bit clearer. Its slightly washed out.
07/12/2002 06:45:00 AM
This is a fearsome looking beast 8 for fear 6 for exposure abit over exposed 7 overall
07/12/2002 12:51:00 AM
Bingo!!! The picture even scares me.....
07/11/2002 10:08:00 PM
Bad background and you should have had the whole spider inside the frame.
07/11/2002 08:58:00 PM
Nice shot, but it suffers from compression. You may want to adjust your settings to use more of the available 150K.
07/11/2002 02:21:00 PM
A lot of noise...
07/11/2002 10:18:00 AM
Im seeing red and green areas all over this picture, possibly because youve zoomed in on a small part of the original picture. Good depth of focus.
07/10/2002 08:47:00 PM
OMG! It actually looks like it has a face of a bearded man! - Almost devilish! There's a weird quality to the lighting. Over brightened?
07/10/2002 08:33:00 PM
To see one of these would probably scare the majority of us, but your picture seems to make him out to be a nice guy with a smile on his face. What is that extra body part in the upper right of the photo? I would have like to see a clearer shot, and you lost some composition when you tried to make him look bigger and chopped off his legs. a 4 by Autool

Grainy! Sorry if you have a low end camera. Start with more light. Next, don't crop off his poor legs, he only has eight of them. A stronger contrasting background would not hurt either. 6 Swash

Yuck, that's scary. It would have been a great shot if it was crawling up someone who looked terrified. By itself it does not really show fear but still kind of cool so I won't score you low.

YEECCCKKK, I normally don't mind spiders, but then again, I normally am not looking at them eye-to-eye, either. If possible, a sharper focus might have helped 'cause it looks a little fuzzy (the focus, not the spider) to me. Of course, that might have meant you needed to get closer, and I can understand why you didn't. karmat

subject 10 lighting 5 focus 5 compositon 9 total 7

Good shot! I just wish there was less noise in the photo. I'm guessing you had to use a high ISO to get a good enough shutter speed, but a despeckle filter in photoshop or equivalent might help a bit.

Looks like "Wolfman Jack" - Great positioning in the frame. Looks a little grainy. Excellent choice for this challenge.
07/09/2002 10:36:00 PM
yuck
07/09/2002 08:44:00 PM
nice shot! i bet it was dark and or this is a 100% or close to it crop. no dock of points for grain: I understand.
07/09/2002 07:26:00 PM
The image quality could be better.
07/09/2002 04:58:00 PM
This is one of the better spider shots in this challenge. I like the head on view so you can see his beady little eyes :) The shot looks a little grainy... I also have a minor problem with the crop. I would have either tried to get closer to the main body of the spider or I would have tried to include the whole spider. Some of the legs being cropped out without all of them being cropped puzzles me a little :) Good shot! = 6 - jmsetzler

meeting challenge = 5 (I don't mind spiders but I wouldn't want to run into this guy anywhere) photo quality = 3 seems a bit blury and out of focus. total = 8
07/09/2002 04:29:00 PM
interesting image of a face on this spider can you see it ,spookey !
07/09/2002 02:01:00 PM
nasty looking spider, nasty composition.
07/09/2002 10:43:00 AM

07/09/2002 09:16:00 AM
you made me terrified when I saw it.eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!
07/09/2002 07:53:00 AM
This photo does it for me! :)
07/09/2002 12:45:00 AM
Finally, a spider photo that's well done. With that beard, looks like someone I know.
07/08/2002 04:28:00 PM
Weird human face...scary.
07/08/2002 02:20:00 PM
Great face on the spider--really creepy.
07/08/2002 01:01:00 PM
the looks lilke is lacks sharpness, and is too grainy. The lighting is also too flat.
07/08/2002 12:58:00 PM
I hate to see the propagation of people fearing spiders. They are not to be feared. Nice pic though.
07/08/2002 11:16:00 AM
Nice spider pic.
07/08/2002 09:06:00 AM
great content, but the composition is blah
07/08/2002 09:03:00 AM
I'm glad you got close, but your picture is a bit grainy.
07/08/2002 01:03:00 AM
omg @ those eyes ! The crop off of the legs is my only major issue.
