This was spotted on my hunt for a sunset shot. I got side tracked and missed the sunset. I like the one lone corn ear by itself. Gives me a sense of even when surrounded by many, you can still be all alone.

I thought this one would do better, too. I love how the B/W affects the shot and brings out the lines and forms so nicely.

I am very surprised this didn't score higher. It's a beautiful photo both in composition and creativity. I'm dismayed by the person who gave you only a 3 because it didn't fit the challenge. There was nothing in the challenge that said it had to be a flower garden and, I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Illinois, you see LOTS of personal vegetable gardens growing corn. I do like the suggestion someone made that perhaps keeping the ear of corn yellow would make it stand out more. That might look cool, kind of like the "Glory" photo in your gallery. In any case, it deserved a higher rating. IMHO.

I liked this shot a lot and gave it a 7 (which is high for me), but I think it has some issues. All of the background stalks are really distracting. It might work better as a close-up of the individual ear. I like the b&w choice a lot. Maybe you could try one not totally desat with the kernels still yellow.. something to help it stand out more. I like that the front plant gives the picture some depth, but it's a little distracting that it's so large and blurry. Fits the topic well though.

With a title like yours I would like the corn to fill atleast 1/3 or more of the image - currently it seems lost

Nice choice of BW and I love the textures that you've got here. The corn cob gives a good focal point.

I love that you used a tone and not in color. That sets this apart. It's a wonderful photo with lots of good textures. Nicely done !

well captured photo but I think it's more "In the Field" theme...

I like the idea. However, I wonder about the colour choice. B&W make it difficult to locate the different one at first glance. How about desaturating all but the corn's unique colour? 5
