She had been after us for months to let her get her tongue pierced but once there begged us to not let her go through with it. I would have put the pic with the needle in but by that time she had calmed down showing absolutely no fear. This week we let her sister have hers done and I had a great pic of the fear in her as the needle was passing through but a week late.
Thanks for the constructive comments. They really have helped.

Different idea and a great experssion on her face. I think this would have worked a lot better if it had been a tighter vertical crop mainly of her (almost like a portrait) and the hand holding the swab a little closer. This would cut out all the unnecessary curtain space to the left and minimize the "clutter" on the wall behind. The colors also seem just a tad off -- I'm guessing because you were shooting under fluorescent lights.

the sign on the wall is really scary.

I don't see fear here.

good idea

This is another case of a title trying to carry the photo. If it wasn't for the title I would not know what this is about.

Since I'm generally pertrified of needles, this gives me the willies. And then once I read the sign on the wall "Labtech is not responsible for accidents" Yikes! The image feels a bit staged, but I like it.

without the title, I was fearing where he was going with that swab. good capture of fear, you can see it on her face :O good job. With regards to the sign over sink....accidents? Hell of a disclaimer :) 8 cthenk

I hate needles... if you had shown one here I would have scored it higher.

cool shot! I happen to know a little bit about this subject... i don' thave any piercings but my sister has a tattoo and piercing shop.. This often causes people to pass out and / or get sick. It is a real fear :) good shot! = 7 - jmsetzler

Well taken photo. Far arm is a bit overly bright, otherwise, no real complaints.

looks more sentual that scared

This one is growing on me. I think a closer crop without quite so much curtain on the left might have worked better (for me at least)

I love this and am giving it a 9, (Even though she looks anxious more than scared)After the voting is done I have a shot of my daughter getting her belly button pierced that I would LOVE to share with you.

DON'T DO IT
07/10/2002 12:11:00 AM
doesn't look too scared

She definitely looks uncomfortable, and the hand entering on the right adds a nice effect. I think it might have seemed more balanced if your subject was little further left in the picture. That would have gotten rid of some of that empty space too. The labtech sign in the back would make me fearful, too.

Should have shown more of the piercer
07/09/2002 12:31:00 PM
nice capture of fear in her face.
you could have zoomed in a little more. also the lighting is not very good. her left arm is too bright.
i would have chosen a much lesser DOF. it would be better when the background is blurred so that the viewer isn't distracted by the detail in the back.

Great photo...what'd she have done? 8

One of the very few photos in this challenge that actually tell a story. Good job! Shey.

I've got some korn playing right now... is she really getting a piercing?
07/08/2002 05:12:00 PM
What would be great is to see the face at the time of the piercing. Something without all the background.
07/08/2002 02:51:00 PM
She really doesn't look very scared. She looks more like she's thinking, "this is a stupid idea for a picture."
07/08/2002 01:34:00 PM
Ya. I hate doctors too

bwahahaha, the note at the back "labtech is not responsible for accidents"!!
