I actually planned to do this shot for Deja Vu II. Then I saw this challenge, and since I'd shot something I liked pretty well for deja vu II as a 'fallback' in case the water balloon shots didn't work out, I decided to shoot this for Water II instead. It was a TON of fun. Went through about 25 water balloons, and got about four shots that were really hard to narrow down. After much agonizing I settled on this one.
Post-processing: levels, crop, resize, usm, burn a bit on the balloon fragment to keep it from being too much of a distraction.
I've gone back and forth on the cloning out of the stick. On the one hand, I think the image is more interesting and aesthetically pleasing without it. On the other hand, I'm not sure people would get what this is without seeing it there. In the end, I left it. I may regret that. |

Looks like a pear who has just shed his green skin. |

cool effect, but the needle and piece of ballon kinda undo it for me. maybe have someone burst it from behind wearing a black glove. |

Really a fantastic shot. I wonder what it would have looked like 1/1000 of a second earlier? |
