This was one of about two dozen bee shots I took one afternoon when it had been raining. The bee was very, very docile and hardly moved throughout my friend and I taking macro shots.
I had a very hard decision with sharpening, as it made the background very slightly noisy. In the end I thought the clarity of the foreground image was important enough.
I would really have preferred it to adhere to the rule of thirds more, but the wing position made this more difficult, as I wanted to keep the bee fairly large in the photo. I would also have liked to rotate the image more, but this photo is 1:1 out of my 3.2MP camera, so when rotating it made the bee look much smaller.
I'm fairly pleased with the image, but as always, I could spend a lifetime post-processing it! I hope it doesn't fall down too much because of composition. |

Great detail on the bee and like the translucence of the wings. |

Good details and not bad DOF. Just a shame we can't see its head. |

i think maybe the bee is a bit too centred in the frame, but it;s a nice macro anyway, 8 |

Nice pic. This is a drone fly, it is not a bee. Focus/sharpness is fine, but composition seems a little off. On a technical note, species identification in alot of flies is done by looking at the veins on the wing, so use shade or a polarising filter to remove the glare.
Edited to add the word not before 'a bee'
