Challenge Entry #338
Much like the previous challenge with Kiwiness, I took a couple of hundred shots for this challenge. I love shooting macro but never really had the drive to enter one.
Anyway, this is a feather from my cat's play toy. The feather in itself is only about 1/4" wide by 2" long. For the macro setup, I used the reverse ring method but it wasn't getting close enough since i only used my 50mm and my old Rebel kit lens (35-80mm). So for added close up jazz, I decided to use my extension tubes as an experiment. Whoa! Talk about close up. This image is a 30% crop of the otiginal.
Hardly any post processing in this shot. Just ran through NI, cropped, 30 pixel border and slight USM. Save for web. And no, contrary to what some folks might say about the orange colors, it is indeed orange and I did nothing to it ;P

Beautiful light, line, texture and sharpness. Like the way you've cropped it. |

I like the subject and the image quality is very good. I'm not crazy about the sepia tone (unless this is an orange feather?) Now that I see the title, I'm thinking this is the color of the feather. On my monitor it looks more sepia than gold. I'm thinking this would have been a good choice for black and white, making it a study in line, shape, and tones. |

nice! would even be better with a CCW rotation by some degrees to get the lines in the right half vertical |

Like the fact that the structure of the two sides look different. Gives it a more dramatic impact. |

Nice lines - the diagonal works great. A little diffuse in the top right corner but I'm sure you're just as annoyed by that. 7 from me.
Good luck! |
