Challenge: Refraction of Light (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D50
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6G ED
Location: California
Date: Apr 3, 2006
Date Uploaded: Apr 3, 2006

Noticed that the garden window in the kitchen was perfect for refracting light, I got the glass, vodka, and olive and mixed up a martini. Shot a few, drank the martini. Then went and reshot with water, since the ice cold vodka kept frosting the glass.

Slight crop, levels, sat, bright, resize, usm, save for web

this is pretty nice.. but it doesn't really emphasis on refraction...

This works well for me...

nice idea, but the background looks fake and the lighting is quite flat, but you have a really nice sharp lens

I'm thinking you should have lit the background up instead of the glass, and let the light shine through, those reflections are distracting from an otherwise very good refraction. Also having the glass off-center makes me feel lopsided.

very nice... I like the refraction of the sunset in the stem and the angle on the glass to see two olives.... nice examples of refraction.

Lemme guess - a martini glass in front of a monitor with a sunset photo on it.. :-) The refraction principle is shown well, though.

Great detail on this shot! The lighting looks a little bit dark to me...perhaps a small bump in brightness might help. Love the sunset in the background!

The lighting seems off for this. I would expect a more orange cast in the martini from the sunset.

A tad bit on the dark side. Otherwise, a good photo.

Great work and great background. It's also perfectly lit and is very sharp. Nicely done.

nice looks like from the lighting as if the sunset is from a computer
