Challenge: The Future (Classic Editing*)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Fort Bragg, NC
Date: Aug 2, 2003
Galleries: Emotive, Panoramic
Date Uploaded: Aug 2, 2003

This image began as a panorama of the cemetery. I then went to the Airborne Museum and took a photo of the Fallen Comrade copper sculpture. I edited out the case in which the sculpture resides and cleared out the rest of its background. I cropped the cemetery so the sculpture was centered and made the opacity on the sculpture 55%. I also increased the saturation and contrast on the sculpture. I desaturated the cemetery, and dodged the front of the first two rows of headstones.

I am sure people felt that way in ww1 and ww2 as well. War is a waste of civilization. war is a truth of civilization. as long as there exsist those that have there will always be those that want....Let them take it? your childs freedom or anyone elses? I will stand as a soldier to protect what past generations insured. do I die? maybe. 10 for making us all think what it might be like with out those that want of those that have.

This says 'past' to me more than 'future' but nevertheless, it's about moments in time. The cropping of the boots and helmet definitely don't do it for me. I'd like to see more space here. Also, the low-contrast black and white is rather washed-out. I'd rather see the shot metered on the headstones in the background.

I sure hope it isn't the future of ALL our service people! Very nice job on this picture! :)

I think this image is too flat and I dont like the brownish color on the thing in the front and I think the cropping is too harsh :o Sorry but its a great idea but you could have done it better I think .

with the picture of the grave taken at an angle, the boots and rifle in the middle look out of place from a straight on perspective

Didn't really understand the idea of the stuck on items and why did you use colour for them?. The original BW image is very grey.. This is the future of us all..
