 Initial camera settings - used shutter priority, exp compensation of -2 steps, used center weighted metering. Used layers to adjust the shadows to bring out more highlights. Adjusted overall exposure, used curves to lighten the shadows, brightness and contrast increased, dodged and burned details of wood, spot sharpened the seafoam and some of the roughened wood, adjusted color balance to bring more orange to sand and wood.

Nice variation of textures. You have great details, contrast and a very natural real life look to it. I would have liked to seen the log a little more to the right though. I really like the angle of the water line though. Nice work.

Cool idea. Good subject. The lighting seems a bit harsh. Perhaps a different time of day for the shot could be a stronger show of texture. Also, I think this is a case where the centered composition just doesn't seem to be very stimulating.
