Great job capturing the look and feel of the movie.
My mom knows Tom Hanks. I'll have to get her to ask him why Forrest never looked at that little diagram printed on the inside of the box-top which shows where the soft-centers are located .... |

I'm soooooo glad to see someone did this. This was my idea, too, but my week got busy and then it was too late. You did a beautiful job - the subject at first glance even appears to really be Tom Hanks due to your excellent composition and having the little suitcase there. Lovely. 8 |

Perfect, this is this week's standout entry in my opinion. I would be surprised if this does not take the blue ribbon.
As an image it stands up quite well, with only minor, minor adjustments that I would make such as possibly making the image a little more contrasty. But that is pretty minor and is, of course, subjective. There's nothing you can do about the sky which is about the only detraction from the image at all.
Love the detail you have gone to here, white socks.... and even the checked shirt. Great shot, thank you, I got a real kick out of this one.... as you have no doubt gathered from the length of my comments... this is head and shoulders above the other shots in this challenge for both originality and relevance to the challenge topic.
If this does not win there is no justice on DPChallenge!
Good Luck, Todd.
Goes without saying that I gave this a 10. |

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. I really think you did a great job at representing this movie. The suitcase is just perfect. The only problem is that I think there was a bus stop and a road in front of the bench in the movie, but still a very nice shot. Focus and clarity are great, and I love the use of black and white here. I think that the way you have positioned the person is great, and he almost looks like Forest Gump! The sky being so white might normally bother me, but it does not here. I think this is a 9. Great shot. ~Heather~ |

This is one of the bets pictures in the challenge, as it closely tries to mimic a scene from the movie. The bench, suit, shoes, briefcase, pose, etc are very good. I don't want to sound that perfectionist, but his face seems to tough to be Forrest Gump. Ha! Don't take this last comment too serious. Your picture is very good, and perfect for the challenge. Good luck! |

My voting criteria for this challenge are:
1. Did you capture a scene from the movie (as the challenge brief states) or did you enter a picture and fit a title to it.
2. How close a rendition is your image to the movie.
3. How does the image stand up in its own right.
In this case:
1. Pretty obvious that you shot this specifically for the challenge.
2. Almost spot on. I guess this is the scene most people remember and as it was used as the advertising image (at least in the UK) even those who haven't seen the film may know it. I could be picky and say that the suit's too dark, it's the wrong type of bench, he's sitting in the wrong place, etc. but so what. You've captured an image that screams its title without being titled.
3. Would this image stand up in its own right? Difficult to say as it's so closely tied to the film. The setting is wonderful and a picture with other people sitting on the bench would work well.
Overall a very good picture which meets the challenge so closely watchout for copyright infringement notices being sent. 10 |
