Hey Kivet, I think this is a great shot for digital art. The NI gives it a total painting feel. You have been around long enough to know that this doesn't always fly on DPC. A few things are too bad with the composition (I know you couldn't help it, it's not like you were telling the deer where to go). The deer on the left is totally facing away and all we get is a great shot of its ass. The deer on the right has its head perfectly blocked by the fencepost. While you had no control, it still limits the height this picture can reach. |

I love the painting sense of this image. I'm not even considering the challenge, but the photo itself. I like it very much. |

Hmm didn't mean to offend anyone, was just trying to say what I liked about this photo and how I felt it should place higher.
Bear, I like the pinball machine effect. It kept me entertained. LOL
I dunno, maybe I like stuff like this, maybe I project the same in my work. What can I say, I really like this photo, I dont care about the trash, or the building. All I saw was real deer lined up and jumping and I loved the processing effect.
nephoto-not to worry, you got your ribbon. I gave you a 6 in the challenge. I'm just partial to weird and unusual photos. |

CalliopeKel lines up the shot straight, and fires it straight into nephoto's junk... Ouch :) |

I like this picture quite a lot, but there are many elements working against it in this challenge. Primary among these is that it is not obvious that the deer is actually leaping the fence; it takes close examination to deduce that a/he's not standing on the ground beyond the fence. In other words, the shot's not dynamic enough to shout LEAP at the viewer.
Then, there are three very distracting elements in the image: the trash on the right side, the structure in the back, and the disembodied deer rump on the left. All of these are what I call "eyetraps", pulling our attention away from where it should be. Finally, the rightmost deer's face is hidden by a post of some sort, and this is mildly disturbing as well.
Finally, the dreamy PP use of glow, while attractive in itself, is serving to effectively isolate and empahsize two of the distracting elements; the disembodied rump and the piece of trash.
So, all in all, the image is fairly static (the leap is implied rather than expressed) and is compositionally chaotic (the eye bounces around like a pinball) and this, IMO, is why a potentially fine image failed to score higher.

I cannot believe the placement on this!! I was one of your two 10s. I thought this stood out from all the rest. It is so interesting to look at, so much going on. Just goes to show you winning must be about luck rather than skill, because this was just fantastic. But again, art is subjective. |

I'll bet the 5 second voters miss the one jumping and vote it down, for your sake I hope not. Nice capture and I like the painted look from your editing. |

I absolutely love this photo and the special editing to make it dreamy. You own this challenge as far as I'm concerned. |

Way over processed. Looks more like a painting than a photograph. |
