This cathedrale sits in the city of Bayeux in Normandy, and it was commissioned by Odon, half brother of William the Conqueror. Today, only the crypt dates back to 1077 A.D. The region remains the bastion of William's reign over England and the duchy of Normandy and became unwittingly the source of the 100-year war and rivalry between England and France. It's worthy to note however that the region was also fated to become the region that would unite both countries against a common enemy during D-Day's Operation Overlord in WWII.

29 places better than me...you suck :P Oh wait, I guess that would be I suck :(

Killer tones in this one, they are really nice. Contrast is pretty good too. Not sure the square crop would of helped, would take away from your good composition. Perhaps a different composition w/o sky? Man I really like those tones, very midevil looking, goes well with the church. Darn sky :(

Thanks for all the comments. And yes Front Element, it should have read A.D. That's what happens when I submit something at the last minute and just 15mins before a late bedtime :). Didn't mean to make this sound older than it is - don't need to. As for the sky being flat, I didn't really have a choice with the weather being so bad the day I shot this. But in the end, I thought it makes for a simple stark background to contrast nicely with the rich architecture of the cathedrale. Maybe I should have just square cropped it to reduce the sky. The learning continues ...

Beautiful. A 10. The sky is a little flat, but the image makes up for it. Great job.

sky is not very intresting...i would have sepeated it into another layer and then multiplied the two layers together (since this is advanced editing) I give it a 5

Great building. Should the title should read 1077 A.D. though?
