 So I go to the cosmetic counter... I'm of course a guy and even I know that every year the people who know these things announce their new spring fashion lineup and the new make-up colors for the year or season. So she says yellow and green are the new colors this year and I say... great. Here I says to my daughter... put this on.
Anyway... to all those who were a little troubled about this image meeting the challenge... sometimes you're right... but this isn't one of those times.
Appreciate the great comments and votes from the other crowd who were of course, RIGHT... :)
Oh... and the light box WAS intentional. I could have eliminated if I chose to but in the end I found that it added a little more dimmension to the eye and, it made the eye look just a bit more 'glassy'. I stand by my decision as I believe it to be the right one. Sorry I didn't follow the rules for alot of you, but in the end, I like it and if you don't, well you're wrong again... :)

I thought this was a great shot - one of my few 10s. Love the colors and the detail. I liked the light box - didn;t find it distracting at all. Being a guy, I was not aware of the new spring colors but the shot worked great. Well done. Shame it didnt go higher but 18th place isn't anything to sneeze at.

You were definitely robbed on this one. This is a fantastic image. The reflector mirrored in the eye ia an excellent added plus. Excellent color choices, Should have seen at least a top 5 finish. Simply amazed at the low votes this got!!

Great color, detail, and composition. The lines on the light box draw my attention away from the rest of the picture in the larger version but didn't in the thumbnail.

Technically, one of the best shots I've seen (ever). I'm sure that this image was significantly "edited," but that's not very relevant to its outstanding appeal. That said, I don't very much buy its pertinence to the theme of "something new" (it makes the cut, but barely does so).

Wow, it's kind of cool having the eye with everything else white, but I think the reflection in the eye is distracting. I could understand that that would be difficult to get rid of though

This is an arresting image. I like the non-traditional color. I like the brilliant focus. But I find the reflected light distracting.

I love everything about this photo except the lighting reflection. It really distracts from this incredible photo. A bit of a catch-22, since the lighting is what really makes this photo zing! The colors and detail are absolutely amazing.

This is a great shot, but what is new? Maybe it's just me but I can't see how it meets the challenge. Excellent work though.

Very very nice colors and details here. The ONLY thing I can think to nitpick on is the reflection of the lamp in the eye...it's a little big. Other than that, I just LOVE it! Still a high score from me :-)

I find the square soft box light in the eye to be too distracting. A small catch light is good, but this is too much in my opinion.
