My first entry with my new camera.

Secretary of State Cathy Cox (center, in yellow) holds a short press conference after officially qualifying to run for Governor of Georgia in this year's election. She's running in the Democratic primary against Lt Gov Mark Taylor (who qualified an hour earlier, but none of my shots came out) for the honor of facing incumbent Republican Governor Sonny Perdue (who qualified several days earlier). This is on the floor of the state House of Representatives; the GOP signed up across the Rotunda in the Senate chamber.

Had a hard time pulling back on the harsh TV camera light on her face but keeping her bright enough to stand out from the crowd. The yellow! blazer helped, but even that was blown out.

A bit of desat on the master channel, bumped up the yellow a bit. levels, brightness/contrast, channel mixer to tone down all the red in the room, slight curves, dodge/burn, USM, resize, USM again, save for web.

ETA 7/19: Cathy Cox lost to Mark Taylor in the primary yesterday, 52% - 44%, knocking her out of the governor's race.

excellent spot news coverage. too bad you couldn't get around just a hair to your left; that would have allowed you to frame in a little tighter, eliminating the signs on the far right (they tend to divert attention from your subject).

Before I read the signs, or your title, I though the man in front of her was the subject. Maybe if you had been a step or two to the left it would have made this much better. However, it is obvious that this was standing room only.

I'd like to see a tighter focus - it took a moment of searching to find who the headline refers to.
