Very emotive photo ! Yours is a tribute to all of those people who take time to bring joy to "forgotten" 3rd age people.
This one is a wonderful therapy for the soul and for the body.
About the photo , it's very good with the focus on the kitten , B&W is perfect here.
This is not "just another photo with cat" ...

I think having the elderly man's face would have helped this photo because I feel it would nice to be able to see his reaction to purr therapy

cute, but no cigar. excellent idea, but you have cropped too much out of the person in the background. this has great potential, but misses with the framing.

Focus on both the kitten and the senior citizen... this is too much of a pet photo with too little human interest.
