I thought I'd try my hand at soft focus (USM, then a little Gaussian Blur).
I predict people will either love it, or want someone to pass them a bucket. I'm on the fence on this one...

This image has a lovely dreamy feeling to it. The composition works well and conveys a sense of calm and peace. You did a good job with the exposure, too! The colour tone is too red for my taste though.

Great SHOT!!! I love this!! When I look at this shot , its so tender , I almost feel like I am invadeing someones privacy, a moment that is just for them. You can feel the softness here. What a perfect title!!!

CCC: You are right in your comments that it is a bit cutsie, but I think the soft focus is subtly done and works quite well to give an 'etheral glow' to the people.

Compositionally, the shot seems a bit too balanced between the brown at the bottom and the green regions at the top - I think maybe less water would work well.

The way you've framed the people works well to focus on them.

Hey Bob - just goes to show how much the challenge has to be obviously met in a shot to score: I think this'd have won if you'd had some really close foreground stuff to shoot through or around, or something that was more immediately visible than the foliage there is: it blends in with the rest if the trees etc. too quickly for those voters ruching past it: got to nail 'em quick, mate.

Hmm... looks like lots of people didn't see the relevance to the challenge. Are you all blind?! I was by a river covered in trees and bushes looking out into a clearing. e301's comment was most perceptive, as the couple did not know they were being photographed, but I hope nothing as sinister as he was implying was going on here.

I'm surprised this didnt rate higher. I loved it.

A shot where, IMO, softer focus works quite well.

Little difficult to see how this meets the challenge...very nice shot though.

i really like this--the softness, the reflection of the light on the water, the muted colors, and the subject placement. very nice work!

I don't find this very on topic, but this is one of the few photos that stands on its own regardless of topic. Points for that, but only 7 because I can't tie this to the challenge topic. Great photo though.

I really like this shot. It tells a story, its visually appealing, the way you look out at the mother and son through the window of leaves is creative. I like the soft light for this shot. The creek in the foreground seems like it could be a little more in focus but I'm not sure that would be better.

Given the challenge, this ought actually to be a very creepy photograph: inside what? My presumption being that the photographer is hiding somehow, or concealed, and therefore elements of stalking, and kidnapping and murder are brought to the image. Especially creepy given the over-romantic treatment of the scene. However ...

I think I'm bringing that to this shot, rather than being shown it: some suggestion of a window or of concealment would have helped, maybe. Otherwise it's just a good portrait scene - no, a very very good one - that seems to have been shoehorned into this challenge. You're still getting a seven though, as it's a wonderful portrait - worthy of the Agfa competition I'd have thought - which is a mark I never give to non-challenge-meeting shots.

Besides having a great photo, you really do capture the love. You can feel it. 10 from me. The photo evokes a lot of feeling.

I don't see the "inside looking out" element? You could be standing by the river (which wouldn't fit the challenge) or behind a window (which would fit, but doesn't come out on your picture)

Wonderful image! I'm having a little trouble seeing it's challenge relevance though... Am I missing something obvious here?

I think this as being more like outside looking in. Great capture of the subjects though. Good luck.

I haven't been commenting a lot lately, but I just have to say that this shot is creepy as hell. The thumbnail looks like a face!! The eye being the area where the mother and child are, there is a nose shaped area where the grass meets the water, and the dark spot in the water resembles a mouth. This is a really great photo. I like how you have framed the mother and child, and your focus and clarity are really good as well. Very dreamy. And quite creepy in the thumbnail size. ~Heather~

Man, I really want to give this a 10 because I love it! It doesn't fit the challenge so well in my book though, darn. I'll give it a 7 anyway.

This is a truly lovely shot and I am sure the models will love it (I assume they are really mother and son and I want to assume that they are your wife and son, but i don't want to be assuming too much ). It's wonderfully beautiful and the soft focus fits prefectly. It is also a unique take on the challenge. I can see the inner emotion of love really coming out in the scene. Great job.
