Lovely study of someone who does look wistful, if not entirely desolate. I'd like to think he just got up and swung around happily after this! Great DOF and lighting, and a nice take on the challenge. [7]

Great shot of the monkey! I don't get any sense of this challenge (my bad). A little too bright on the top of it's head, too. 7 Rob the Swash

lol. A brilliant sharp shot of this monkey! Persoanlly, I would have cropped the image close to his/her face as firstly, I dont think that is a very attractive pose even for a monkey and secondly, I love the expression on the face which is really the thing which portays desolation.

However, well done. Good try =)

This is a nice shot, I like the expression on the subject and the use of the rope in the composition. He does seem rather lonely, but I don't get the feeling of desolation. He seems too content to be truly desolate.

DOF is terrific. Colors very nice. I feel like I'm looking at a live animal and the facial expression is perfect. IMO the rope hanging in front adds to this shot. This is one of my favorites. Good luck.

Technically is a very good picture, but the title tells me more than the picture about desolation

Ahhhhhh, it has such a sad look on the face. No friends to play with.
Nice work. Interesting balance between the damaged rope and the ape.
I've got a strong feeling I know the pg. :)

Absolutely a great shot. Now for the bad news, it is anything but desolate to me. Sorry, but I gave you a 1 and I think it would have been a 10 in another category. The lighting is very nice and I really like your use of the depth of field. The rope being in focus in the forground adds a lot to the composition.

I am not sure he looks abandoned. Maybe if you had not been so close and moved out away he would have looked more alone.

the shot isreally nice, the match of hair and rope and the angle os the "swing" all work together...I don't know about desolation but he surely is alone ...kind of serene, though
