Oh...I don't like this photo because you left me no choice! Now, I have to understand! |

What a nice coincidence! We both gave the needle the proper importance.
I have a deep attraction for tall grasses and haystacks and draw them quite often. In the I used a copy of one of my drawings.
I love the color tonality of your image. It's after rain and the needle popped out like a bud. |

I like this one. The focus is just spot on. The blue sky works well. Good luck. |

Took me a moment to see the needle. But your focus led me to the place I should be looking and the I saw it. Very nicely done. |

Love the DOF but the composition, not so much. Feel like you could have made more of the straws leading me towards the needle. Nice shot still, gave it a 6. |

good match between photo and saying ... may have been better to have a little less background? |

I like the depth of field. You did a geat job on this! I also like the slightly off centered needle, one notices it more that way... |

Nice image. I like the lighting, DOF, and changing colors. The only thing I don't care for is the bright sky in the background. Still a good shot. |

Good interpretation of this saying but ... it need a crop, either from the top or the bottom - top of hay is just too centered in the frame. |

I like the DOF and think it adds a lot to focus the mind on the needle. |

I bet this was a bit of a challenge to decide whether to shoot wide to loose the needle in the haystack and risk having it not be visible, or to shoot tight to keep the needle visible but loose the meaning of the cliche. I'd say you found the right middle ground and the use of shallow DOF really helps. |

Good use of DOF to lead the eye to the needle and then keep it from wandering off into the background. |

it might be stronger if the top sky like area were cropped out. it is bright enough to ditract from the hay initially for me. way to meet the challenge. |
