Shot May 7th at the taping of a concert on Extreme Makeover Home Edition in Bergenfield NJ. This is a well lit (though not as bright as I would have hopped for) outdoor set however I was forced to shoot from about 150 feet away without a flash and shot at 1600 ISO.

I think I caught something special in this image as Paul DiMeo (a designer on the show) and Marlee Matlin (special guest host for this male over and Academy Award Winning Actress.) open the concert with the Blind Boys of Alabama. The gentleman in the middle is Jack Jason who accompanies Marlee in many if not all of her public appearances and television talk shows. Jack has been with Marlee for years as her interpreter since she is deaf and uses sign Language to communicate with us in the hearing world. When this show airs you will see this scene as they convey to the family (who was sent on a vacation to Disney World) how things are going on their new home.

Maybe a night shot of the skyline of New York or of a moon lit sky would score higher but in my mind this is a moving and wonderful capture, which was shot at night after the sun set. Isn’t that what this challenge was all about? I just hope you all enjoyed it.

BTW for those not familiar with Extreme Makeover Home edition, it is a show where companies and advertisers donate their time and goods to a family in dire need of help. They come and surprise the people, send them off to a vacation and while they are gone (one week) tear down their house and build an entirely new home which is complete with all the electronic and physical equipment needed to make their lives just a bit more bearable and a little easier to deal with.

In this episode a family who has many physical disabilities including deafness, blindness and cancer is being helped. There are 4 (or 3 not sure) children involved a deaf and blind dad and a mom who has been diagnosed with cancer. Pray for them.

As this is more a "candid" than a "night-shot" (which would rely on "night" to achieve an effect), I find it difficult to rate it. I can't say that it doesn't qualify for the challenge as, indeed, I believe you took it at night, but I can't praise it for creativity, either. I guess...it's just "OK."

Great action shot. I'd sure love to see this cropped just to the right of the microphone to concentrate on the people and the orange/yellow splash on the left. Still, it's a fabulous capture.

I'm surprised more people didn't shot people for this one
