Taken at Stanley Park, Vancouver - a total fluke since I was rollerblading while taking photos. I had heard the plane take off and I just turned and shot this. I'm not sure where the vignette in the upper left corner came from, so I compensated for it by adding vignette.

Post Processing -

Decreased Saturation
Increased Contrast
Curved
Cloned out minor imperfections from ships's antennae sticking out of the bottom of the photo

I love all the wonderful people images, but I also appreciate entries that are not of a person, this is one of the better ones. I love the contrast.

Clouds fly with the plane...

This is not a portrait IMO. I like the composition, but it DNMC.

Sorry but this is so far from meeting the challenge as far as I am concerned, for me portraits = people, I can let pet´s slide though but this isn´t even close. Shame as I like the shot, I love the clouds and the dark blue skies, I would have given it a good rating if it met the challenge it was in. No offense intended with this comment, I just wanted to explain why I gave it a low rating.

Terrific shot, good composition - just love those clouds. But.

I try quite hard to find an angle in a shot that would make me understand how that photographer felt their image would fit a challenge. Sadly, I find I cannot grasp here how you thought this fitted a portrait challenge and you score will be affected by this. Such a shame, because in the right contest this shot deserves to do extremely well.

it might work better if the plane were flying into the image
05/17/2006 04:39:55 AM
well thought out although some would say you need a human in the frame to make it work 6

You can stretch the definition of the challenge only so far. Unless I'm seriously missing something, this is all environment and no portrait.

Sqeezed that into the challenge. Portrait of an airplane. I must admit the clouds and airplane are wonderful and the colors are intriguing and ominous. As far as being meeting the challenge - not really sure. 6
