 I was experimenting with gels shot from below the shooting table, in an attempt to find complimentary colors and intersting lighting effects. I learned that I needed to diffuse the colored light to prevent blown out background areas. I also had problems with blown out reflections from the chrome on my first attempts. Got rid of those by fitting the softbox with a gobo and repositioning the subject more forward. This left a dark area on the bottom front, which I filled in with a foiled reflector to add a bit more dimision to the subject. I got so focused on the lighting that I forgot to recheck the composition, which resulted in a slight rotation that I fixed in raw processing. Unfortunately the needed cropping made the subject a bit tighter than intended, oh well. This image is straight from the Bibble raw converter with no post-processing.

The dessert looks like raw finely-ground beef to me, and detracts from what is an otherwise very nice photo.

This does not meet the challenge - inanimate but not an arranged composition of objects.
I'm wrong, it counts - extra points...

The lighting you've chosen here makes your dessert look unappetizing unfortunately...

There colors here aren't too flattering, I'm afraid. I'm not sure if that's ice cream, or what, but this shot just doesn't make me want to sample it.
