Ok, so shoot me. I kind of did a re-shoot of my favorite shot from the 30-day self portrait challenge. I had some others, but was threatened that if I didn't do this one again.... very bad things would happen to me. Okay, not really ... but kinda. ;-)

So this was a take-off from my Self Portrait titled "RAW". I couldn't reproduce it to my liking so I took a little different route. Hope it does alright. All I do know is, that I'm pretty tired of taking pictures of myself! :-)

Quite a bit of processing,
-used the VP Character filter... twice
-did some dodging, burning and sharpening to the eyes.
-Brightness/contrast layer
-Burn & dodge layer
-USM

Okay, well maybe not quite as much as I thought. :-)

Jennifer, this should have scored so much higher! It is a really honest shot with a fantastic title. I had it in my top 5 or 6 for the challeneg and thought it would be in the top 10. It's pure and real and stunning...I soooo prefer it to your outtake (which is also grat) excellent photography

I absolutely agree, gave it a 9 and was hoping it would do well. Better luck next time, you deserve it.

hello Jenesis ;-)

If your entry had a little bit more contrast at the right, this one was awesome! but, the eye looks fine, so I wonder where it went wrong? or did you choose it to be this way? I'm very curious.

you have a beautiful expressive face, besides of the contrast, well done :) bumping to 8 because I like it!

Looks very antural and simplistic, then the impact of the eyes are subtle but strong.

My first, second and third impression of this photo was WOW! This shot just sets me back in my seat. Where do I begin? Ah yes, your eyes, MAGNIFICANT is one word that comes to mind. Amazing detail and sharpness that just demands attention. I also love the sepia tones you've chosen to use here. Very flattering, gives this a soft warm old world feel to this shot.

I also love how you've given the viewer you, not a plastic neat-imaged version, I think that really sets this one apart from the rest of the crowd. You should be VERY proud of this shot! Bumping up and adding to favs.

Bravo!

I wonder if most voters will see the beauty in your self portrait. I really like the grain and sepia colour.8

Heya Jenn! Cool shot but I think it would have had more impact if you had kept the whole left half (your left) in the shadows. :D

Ambitious; a rare quality here. Simple lighting and very interesting processing. Direct, expressionless gaze strips away all the behavioural frippery and does indeed get right down to the structural, molecular level. The image also has distinctly sci-fi, androgenous flavour (hope that doesn't offend you) that I think is very compelling. The total effect is riveting. 9.

Hi dudette. You have great eyes. I would've like to see a bit more light on the top of your head to create some separation from the background but otherwise you've done very well....again. :)
