Ah, the consummate "artist's self portrait." The stare right through the viewer- the almost "ready to speak" look. What can we really learn from this? you cropped part of yourself out, indicating a need for privacy and a not disclosing your full self, and youincluded a good deal of water, depth and unknown, mystery; your look is as if you were facing the water and you turned to face the camera reluctantly.
Even if you didn't mean any of this intentionally, it was all there, at least it could be found there. great shot as a result. |

This is a standout. Great separation from the background makes the subject pop. Nice and sharp, good lighting. Like the crop. |

could use a bit of contrast, but I like the look on your face! |

I rated you 8 first, but at second look I'll make it a 9. I don't give 10's because 10 is the ultimate and I like to think that nobody's perfect.
I like your portrait very much, it's plain, simple and true, if those are the right words. Good lightening too and a beautiful B&W, which colour suits portraits very well. |

I like the DOF you have used ... I also like that you have over neatimaged your skin and let people see at least some wrinkles... I love that |

I like the honest sense of this. I like the square crop too, although I might like to have more of your face and less of the tee shirt. Good detail and the focus is good. Bumping up. |

It's a very good portrait with an especially interesting composition & crop. The interpretation implicit in the title makes it even more interesting. I'd have probably tried for a little more contrast (it seems heavily biased toward the midtones) but I'd have probably screwed it up. 6. |
