::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting shot .. good composition ...sometimes it pays to stop the car.
Composition:
I like the way that the lines are around each thirds mark .. the dark area .. then the blue from the top.
Subject:
I think the scoring reflects that people thought more that it is a good shot .. than a true to challenge pic. I don't really feel heat from the picture .. as Dr Achoo says .. the blue cools it down.
Technical (Colour and light):
Natural light ... lovely shot ... great sharpeness.
To grow its vote?:
I think that the comments you have recieved reflect well on how to improve.
Summary:
Well done .. I think you have a great eye ... keep it up
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via

Cheers

One thing I find is that you either want detail to your subject (the tower) or you want complete sillouette. If you drag the photo into PS, you see the tone is about a 29 on a range of 0 to 255 (0=black, 255=white). Use levels and increase the low number to about 30. This will give the tower a true black (almost) and you can see it looks better.
Next, for heat, the blue in the sky hurts. It doesn't mean it isn't nice for an ordinary picture, but in the context of "heat" it cools things down. Take your picture again in PS and adjust the color balance to +100/0/-100 (a bit extreme, but to prove a point). This will turn all that nice blue to a orangy brown. Now it looks like we need a glass of water. Before I actually thought of a cold winter prairie sunset. |

Very appealing shot.
I don't like the fence in the distance though. |

So many sun pictures, but yours is one of the few that really gives off a feeling of heat. |
