Greetings from CTP2
Dark images is what this challenge is all about and this came out pretty good. I'm actually surprised this did decent at DPC. I really don't have any suggestions other than to keep working on that look. I tend to favor more detail so for me I would have liked to see a bit more of that in your eyes. Not so much those fancy retinas everyone has in their photos but give me more bursting capillaries! :P

Greetings from your own critique club. Sorry, I was off the hook for a while.
First Impression
Very Nice strong image.
Composition:
Good Composition.
Subject:
Very nice.
Technical (Colour and light):
Very nice. I really like the sharpness, it makes the image even stonger.
Improvement:
More details on the hair and BG, but I don't think it was possible because it was Single Light Source challenge.
Summary:
Very nice strong image. Looks more like the shot from one of my favorite photographer on DPC - "Librodo"
Congratulations on your Personal Best. Keep shooting.

CTCP2 Gunnsi
First impression:
Great portrait. Dark but still very good.
What can you do better?
A different crop, take 1 sm from the top. Clone away the zipper in the right it only distracts. Get a better selfesteem :-) You look good.
Congratulations on your highest score. |

hi from ctp2:
Congrats on a pb! This is a very moody picture. The viewer is drawn straight into the eyes, which are very intense, and a great contrast with the dark of the rest of the photo. I like the way your hair is falling over your eyes, yet the eyes still stand out. The off center crop works really well too. Well done! |

Hello from Ãlex, CTP MkII
First Impression: GREEEEAAAT. Wonderful photo and superb PP.
Composition: very good, off centered.
Subject: absolutely great for the challenge. You achieve a very interesting look.
Technical: impressive. The colors are very nice, and the textures are really good. Focus is accurate. Lighting is excellent (and this is a ñighting challenge).
Improvement: understand this is a great picture and I like it a lot, but to find things to improve, I would say I don't really like the zipper(?), it's a bit distracting.
Summary: Congrats for your PB and keep shooting.
Ãlex

Hi from the Critique Club!
What an interesting bio you have! And congratulations on your high score.
The first thing that stands out here is those eyes. The intense stare really grabs the viewer and challenges them to look away. The whites of the eyes amplify the intensity and attitude, especially as the overall image is so dark, creating nice contrast and tension.
Secondly, the use of negative space is very creative here; the face looks like it's coming out of the darkness and straight at the viewer. The subtle highlights of the zip are perfect for adding some interest in that negative space which otherwise could have seemed a little flat.
The skin texture adds yet more drama and a harshness that echos the almost violent expression in the eyes. The hair over the eyes enhances this feeling too.
You have created an image that has incredible impact and conveys strong emotion, and that is borne out by your high score.
Your harsh lighting has helped you create this story well. |

Hi OJ!
High scoring photos are always hard to critique, so I'm generally rather brief about them.
I like the world of darkness comic book feel of this photo. There is a terrific texture in your skin here that lends the image a nice grittiness. The soft focus works well, and the blown highlights give an impression of heat. I also like that your hair is in your eyes, but perhaps there is just a touch too much there. |
