This is a well-framed and interesting shot; it seems to suffer from the JPG compression, though, with little jaggies on all the angled and curved lines (swingset in the background, diamonds along the wall, tiles, tables, chairs...). It's only half the maximum file size (which is 150 k), so you might want to try to use bigger files in future challenges, for higher quality. |

THis photo looks terribly over sharpened. Realizing sharpening wasn't allowed for this challenge, I'm gonna assume that it's a compression issue. See the floor? the line closest to the left of the image is all jagged. This is throughout the photo, in the metal part of the chairs, on the tiles on the wall, and on the edges of the tables. It makes the photo look really way too busy with all the shapes of the chairs, in addition to all the jagged lines really put a damper on the image. Also the lighting in the background (of which you have no control over but to have shot at a different time of day) is really quite too bright. Lots of blown out areas in the grass, and trees in background. My eyes are drawn there, away from the diner, because it is so bright. Different time of day could have helped this. ~Heather~ |

I would have tried to do something without the outside. A diner is a nice place for 'nostalgia' kinda shots. Fit the cahllenge, but not really interesting or appealing like this. |

Good shot but the processing artifacts are very distracting. |

Nice idea. I just don't like the way the silver pixelates. Too many jaggies on the chair frame. |

The park in the background is distracting, too busy. I think if you had cropped it just above the menu on the far table you'd have a more purposeful shot.
edit: Oops forgot we couldn't crop, but if you'd framed the picture differently in the camera it would have helped. Might have been tough with the post production limitations. |
