This is my boyfriend Joe at Utah lake. We were taking pictures on my birthday and if was very fun. Joe is all sorts of amazing. And he isn't as short as he looks in the picture...he is, in fact, not short at all.

Katie this is stunning! Well done. Last week I looked but never saw anything like this over Utah Lake. Great eye and even better photo!

I did pause to examine Joe's outfit, I wondered if he had a skirt on (my brother-in-law bought a man skirt once but I think we teased him out of wearing it, it didn't go with his Ducks Unlimited ballcap and LL Bean wool shirt) anyway congrats on a decent finish.

Katie is right :) Joe is just wearing shorts. I never even saw the skirt way until the comments. Hehe, kind of funny now though.

Very interesting... almost doesn't look real... but I think it meets the challenge wonderfully and was beautifully done. I can't vote, but if I could, I'd give you a 9.

Great colors.. Don´t know if the lightning is real or you made it... don´t really care though, because it is brilliant either way...very nice picture.

I like it but its a androgynous, no? a skirt on a boy? a shirt tied around the waste? THe shadow and impadt is terrific; but its got me a-wondering.

I love this picture, but it doesn't make me think of desolation. But very good capture and I really like the colors (although IMHO the warmth of the image is part of what holds it back in this challenge) 7

Hmmmm....I like the photo and it is obviously well-done. I'm not sure if desolation is the word I think of (or anything similar---isolation, despair, abandonment). While the figure is solitary, the still water, sunset, and overall gorgeous view make me envy him. Solitude isn't the same as desolation. This looks like peaceful solitude to me.

I've been back and forth to this photo a few times and cannot find immediate words to add. What comes to mind is solitary. I'd be interested to see this in b/w gradient applied or duotone of a more sepia type nature. That, IMO, would enhance the desolate part of the symbolism you have tried to present. I look at the photo as it stands and places like Lake Chad or Namibia come to mind for some odd reason.

interesting pixr, good comp, rich color, nice dof, besides the model the blacks are too deep, and the whites are barely in to be convincing, your models fx is good but looks flat, cut out, but not disturbingly. love the position of the sun, therfore great light, nice movement, nice lines
