Thanks Kollin,
I was trying to get it dark enough for the clouds to appear like smoke from a fire, yet still have some blues and whites. It was a tough balancing act, and I got quite a few comments about it being dark and lack of details on the sculpture. I intend to go back and shoot this some more, I just don't know if I will get a great sky like this again!
Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Personally, I would have enjoyed seeing a little more detail on the monument. Nice shot though. |

The background clouds seem a little dark, shame you couldnt have taken this on a brighter day. Although you have made good use of negative space and possition of the subject is spot on IMHO. |

wishing for a little more light on the monument to catch some detail, but I like the idea of this shot. Composition is good too, It makes me curious as to how high the ladder is below. Good angle. |

Dramatic shot, but it ends up being too dark. The one advantage of the clouds is they are somewhat reminicent of clouds of smoke at a fire. This monument might be worth doing a study on in various weather conditions. I think there's a great shot to be had here. |

excellent photo.. the silhouette concept here works very well against the 'stormy' sky... nice work :) |

I love the sense of height created with this shot.
My only nitpick is that picture as a whole dark. I like the silhoutte and love the clouds and sky. If the monument could stay as dark as it is but the rest were lighter I think it would be even better. |

there's a loss of detail in the firefighter that bothers me |

Interesting shot - although personally I feel that the clouds became the focal pointwith the memorial obscured as just an outline. |

a very moving and timely choice of a monument, and the dark clouds resembling smoke are an excellent background. |

Been nice with a different sky - one of those things we can not always control. |

What can I say? The clouds are what draw my attention to this photo. It would take an awful long time for them to reach Heaven if there was a fire up there. I like how the subject is off center. I dont now what would have been if you used a flash or not. I would hang it on my wall! |

Oh wow, this is amazing! Almost a 10 because I feel that there could have been a bit more contrast in the clouds. I give it a 9. Good job! |
