Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Bokeh II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II
Location: Pool Table
Date: Jun 18, 2006
Aperture: 1.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/15s
Galleries: Interior, Sports
Date Uploaded: Jun 18, 2006

My first shot with my new canon 350d :D ... the lighting could have been done better, but i don't have an appropriate tripod for my lights, so i couldn't set it up for this shot. Used the 50mm f1.8 lens. Used tripod as shutter speeds were slow. I tried to vary the distances, but this seemed to work best, though i'm not sure if its bokeh enough :P

Post processing
- raw output
- rotate to alignment
- curves for a bit of pop in colours
- levels to get rid of the reflection in the white ball
- selective colour to get a bit more colour into the felt of the pool table
- noise ninja, resize, usm

Enjoy

Like that this was a diffrent subject than any others. I also thought you used the Bokeh to enhance the idea behind the image, focusing on the cue ball. Very Nice.

Nice bokeh. Shot looks a little hot, though.

Nice shot, and very clever use of bokeh. The only thing I'd change is to have the cue angled towards the balls in the background, right now it leads your eye out of the shot instead of towards the bokeh. Otherwise well done.

If only the green were a bit darker... but, that's just a personal thing.

I like the idea and the bokeh. The focus on the white ball is, perhaps (mght be my eyes!), a little soft. 8.

Good usage of Depth of field here, andgood composition. Perhaps not veryoriginal, but nice. As a side-note, and basedon your title, don't you think the whiteball should rather be at the end of the queue as in shooting position ? That would be more "focussed", conceptually thinking, no...? Best regards.
