I've been a fan of this shot since I saw it. I have a staircase right next to my work that has been calling my name for months to do something similar. The colors and darkness are awesome!

This was one of my favorite shots (I'm one of your 10s). I thought the darkness mostly covering the subject made the shot. Certainly the surroundings are desolate!

So sad... I can only hope this was staged... but sadly, I know it happens everywhere around us. Nice post-processing.

i like this. i immediately thought...wow, how cool this would be if you could pan up some and get a shot of the world going by while this guy is down here looking like this. but, perhaps the street was just as empty and desolate looking...then there wouldn't be any contrast. i like the shot.

I like the idea but a little more light on the subject area would help it.

I very much enjoy the angle here and that the subject is a little bit hard to find. The stairs look too steep to climb up. Very nice.

I really like the angle on this...really fits the challenge. Only suggestion...take away some of the blue cast in the colors. 8

It seems to be a little too dark to my liking especially on the person..

Great idea for the shot. Definitely works for the challenge for me. Of course I don't know if this is a set up shot with a model, or you actually found this person there, but I wish the person were a little more detectable. I didn't see him at first. Took a few seconds. Some quick voters may miss it altogether. Of course, only so much you can do if you found this person here :-). Perhaps positiioning him a little differently, a spot (like slightly to the left) where there is just a touch more light. Or even changing the point of view/angle/framing of the shot, to place him in a more solid, prominent position in the composition.

I think the model needs to look dirtier, grittier... and desaturate the cyans a bit.

I love this. He reminds me of the junkies in Holland, shooting up in any available corner of the city, getting a little white heat in their otherwise cold and desolate urban subterranea. Well done!
