These are some blue glass pebbles we have loads of in a vase. I used a curved frosted light shade to give a nice background.

I'll be honest, this was not what I aiming to produce. The original shot was much, much wider, but as I cropped, and cropped I really liked this smaller section. The glass pebbles aren't even this colour. My camera has quite abit of noise, so I've used NeatImage to.

PP in CS:
Heavy cropping
Adjustment layer to whole image for curves to boost contrast
Adjustment layer to whole image for Hue/Sat to boost colour and change colour of the pebble from blue to a deep punchy red
run through NeatImage to clean up the background.

Save for web, cross fingers and pray.

Critique club Comment,

Hi from the Critique Club.

This is not a bad picture, and there’s not realy much I could say to improve this. However, as commented I too would like to see all 3 “marbles” in the picture, and make it more visual interesting, just to get that WOW effect.
I like the reflections in the glass, I see 1 with a face, 1 with a head and 1 with an eye. Bit creepy too :b
Hope this helps you in any way.

Keep up the good work.

Peter

Nice, simple composition. The lighting is a little distracting.

Very interesting reflections in the glass. The one on the lower left has a charicature (sp?) of a face?

Colors - very good; shadows- very good. But something about the positioning or crop is not working for me.

Very nice and simple, good colour. WIsh the right hand bead was entirely inside the frame.

this looks grea technically. focus and all is good. just a tad boring. I generally love simplistic photo and suffer from the bore factor too. nice reflections though.

it would make for a stronger image to me if all were in the frame of the image.
