This is a rock-fountain thing on the Bent Street Plaza in Taos, New Mexico. It has several different pools and levels and they all run into and out of each other. It's very peaceful to sit by it and listen to the water babbling.

Lots of people throw coins (mostly pennies) into the pools to make a wish. I am glad I thought of a good "lucky" superstition to photograph for the challenge. Most of the ideas I had at first were things that were omens for bad luck.

If you voted a 5 or 6 on this picture and then bother to read this afterwards - you are granted one wish - sure to come true. If you voted 7 to 9 on my picture and bother to read this afterwards you are granted two wishes that will be sure to come true. If you gave this picture a 10 - you will get three wishes that are bound to come true!!! No wishes granted for those who voted under 5 - it's bad luck to give a score that low.

I took a LOT of pictures of this to get the splash as my husband threw in pennies.

Hopefully there are no fish or other wildlife living in that water. Most aquatic life are harmed by the metals leeched into the water over time. Aquatic snails in particular will die if there are any traces of copper.

The exposure is a bit blown out on the reflection of some coins, but aside from that it was okay. Lighting is a bit flat, but a decent photo anyways. Everyone likes to see a splash :-)

Oooohhh...a water shot! ;^) What I want to know is how did you turn around fast enough to get this shot after tossing that coin over your shoulder? He-he. This is a nice idea. Not sure that the wide angle is helping any here. What I mean is, the subject may have more impact if it was brought in closer and do some major cropping of the surrounding rocks. JMO of course.

Good luck in the challenge.

I think I'd prefer this if we could see a little more - i.e where is this pool? The water splash is nice

I like you caught the 'plunk' of the coin, but, for some reason this image isn't that interesting to me. its a great idea. But maybe the darkness of the rocks makes it bland. Mostly when I hear or have seen this superstition, it is in a well or a fountain, this apears to be a river? can't really tell.
