A bit on the over-exposed side for my taste, but the elements of the composition and their subject matter are clearly understood to relate to the challenge subject.

I think the light/reflection from the wood is a bit distracting, but otherwise a nice setup.

A little harsh and overexposed for my liking.

For the old time feel I would have used just the candle light.

I love the whole feeling of this, but the wood has so much going on, that it makes it all a bit too busy. My favorite so far tho! Good job! 7

What I like: The repeating red in the image gives a pleasant effect.

What might improve it: A much softer light from the side, I believe, would have created a much more pleasant and less harsh environment.

I like this image but there are some conflicts between the items used within the composition. The wax used to seal the letters conveys times long ago while the writing on the ink bottle are from the present. I think the compositon would be a little stronger if both sealed letter were on the top shelf. this would reduce the amount of negative space at the top right corner. You could also reduce the negative space if you used a shorter candle. This would allow you to crop off part of the top lid.

The lighting is a bit bright - the reflections in the wood, the flat light on the paper.

There are some blown areas on here which really take from the mood you were after.

Nice take on the challenge. Maybe b&w would have worked well with this shot?
