I liked the idea of progress from vinyl to solid-state. The hardest part was trying to link the past to the present that would be immediately recognizable without using father-son or mother-daughter connections. When I came up with this link, I knew I had to shoot it.

Of course I don't own a Doris Day album so I had to make a record lable. I made it red to repeat the color of the MP3 player. Cutting a circle with an Exacto blade freehand, isn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. I hope I don't get beat up too bad for it.
Getting enough light on the MP3 player with out falling on the left side of the LP was another challenge that took entirely too long before I was satisfied.

I'm not crazy about the noise that showed up after hitting it with USM after resizing but it beats the alternative. All-in-all I like this image.

I had a similar idea (ipod headphones on record) but I couldn't find a record. I'm so curious how yours will do. I love the red-on-black contrast. Hope your score won't be affected by the song ;)

Nice red/black contrast and good concept. Good highlights on MP3 player without being overexposed. Nice lighting on vinyl, although what is the cause of the distinct straight line going from label to lower right?

Great color, contrast, and composition. Very clever title as well. I predict a top ten finish for this image.

Haha, Doris Day to Green Day, I love it! Well, it sure is progress... different generations might put the arrow in different directions though ;-)

there are heaps of really cliched 'ipod' progress shots ... but this is the best one of the lot.

good colours and dark space. your green day-doris day bit was a very nice touch! clever entry. well done!

I really love this photo. I guess because I have owned both records and a MP3 player. The colors work very well together and the composition is near perfect. A 10 in my book. Great Shot.

Very nice! Doris Day to Green Day and change of format. Very appropriate for the challenge, and red and black always work well together.

Witty. I didn't get it the first time, but just noticed the Doris Day and Green Day. I hope others get the picture. This is more than just a IPod and Record. Nice out of the box thinking.

Lots of these shots in the challenge. This one works well especially because the player and lp both have that nice red. I think it would have worked even better had you made an mp3 with artist=doris day and title=something from the label of that lp so the connection between the two would be even stronger. Nice shot overall.

This is my favourite in the challenge. The red really pops and I like the title and the way you tied it into the 2 artists. Excellent lighting and composition too.

Wow...lots of matches here to tie the record and mp3 player together...great job!

The reds look grainy. If they weren't I'd score a little higher I think. As a "gimic" naming the ipod song with phrases relevant to dpc may have gained a few humor-votes.
