I had numerous ideas for the "Progress" theme, but not enough time in a weekend to set them all up. :) Therefore I decided to debut my lightbox with this shot. I only used one of the lights, so my iPod Nano would cast a shadow onto the cassette. I originally intended to have the headphone coming out of the iPod and wrapping around the cassette, but the fact that the headphone jack is on the bottom of the iPod prevented me from doing so. So I thought it would be just as effective to show the earbuds in the foreground and the other end of the headphone cord strangling the cassette and "stabbing" it with the headphone plug. :D

Ooh.. better than the other iPod photo I saw on here. In fact, one of the best of the whole challenge. Great setup and composition. Love the sharpness on the subject and the DOF. And good tone too.

great studio work, lighting is excellent and like how the shadow of the ipod falls right onto the cassette

I'll score higher, if I can have it. LOL. Good execution, meets the challenge, lacks creativity, but not enough to take away a point. Depth is nice, the colors work, the border is splendid, and your lighting is fabulous. This photo should walk into the top 15% no problem. GL.

To staged for my liking however the selective focusing is nice.

I like the placement of the ipod and the earbuds; the shadow falling on the "old" technology is good, too. Only thing I can't figure is why the cassette is wrapped in cord. If it's to symbolize being "strangled" by the progressive technology, it would be more effective if the cord were visibly attached to the earbuds or the newer device.

I like the focus and the way that the mp3 player towers obelisk-like over the tape. And I can relate to it, my tapes are consigned to obscurity :)

Title makes no sense as ipod's will most certainly become obsolete same as casettes, but nontheless a very nice shot.

The tape OOF is good but the top of the ipod is also OOF which is a shame. Nice composition.
