Contemplated this challenge for several days. At one point I was trying to photograph 16 different cameras dating back to the 1920's, unfortunately I was not able to achieve the results needed for this challenge, plus a good majority of the cameras were Nikon’s and I know how bias non-Nikon people can be. So I decided to make this very simple, Progress by definition is the gradual development or improvement of something. What better to show progress in the photographic world than by highlighting the development of how images are stored? The hardest part of this photograph was getting the film to stay in place. The next hardest was trying to find an unexposed roll of film without having to go buy one, I just hope this roll wasn’t already exposed.

I want to thank my models Kodak and SanDisk, without them this challenge would never have been possible.

I see my comment during the challenge wasn't helpful. Perhaps I should elaborate. The focus is probably fine actually.
But the whole image would benefit from a bit of sharpening outside the camera. Try a USM in PS with the following settings 120,0.5,1 and see what I mean.
I just think that it would be improved if the text was crisper.
Despite my comment, I still gave it a high vote. I like the idea and the composition. The roll of film flowing through the frame is a nice touch.

I wish that the entire film was in the frame, but the lighting is even and well balanced. The only other suggestion that I have is that using a long sheet of paper for the ground and and background because I get distracted from the black and white

Chessey but the truth...I'm sure film will never die though.

That's not progress, it's change ;)

Nice concept. There's no contrast with the film against the background. Why have a white base and a black background? The reflection off the film is also distracting. I also don't like the color combinations (yellow, red, black, and the white).

Better luck next time.

Good thought but I think some extra arrangement & angle can made this idea even better!!
